Final
Reflection
Over
the course of the semester, I developed many strategies that improved my
reading and writing skills. As early as the first day of the semester, when I realized
all the papers I was going to write, I felt overwhelmed. However, my
professor helped all of us step-by-step through our drafts and every assignment
on how we can improve our writing skills. Before I wrote my assignments, of
course we had to gather sources. Currently, I can gather relevant sources to my thesis, as
it was challenging in the beginning. Reading the sources were as important as
gathering them, my reading and analyzing capabilities have improved as well.
Along
with reading and writing, I progressed to satisfy my audience’s expectations.
From the informative report to the research paper, I was able to follow the
format with additional details of my opinions in the argumentative report and
the research paper. While writing these papers, I was also able to advance my
ability to provide a stance. For the research paper, an interview was required,
and it was the first time I conducted an interview in addition to writing a
research paper. The interview seemed tough because I did not know what
questions I wanted to come up with, then I tried to find which one of my claims
did not have enough evidence. Lastly, the sources I’ve read, I needed to
analyze, summarize, and paraphrase. I couldn’t implement those skills until it
became a habit of doing that with the assigned readings and the number of
sources that were required for each assignment. I believe that my strategies of
becoming a good writer grew throughout the semester.
