Research Proposal
All Lives Matter: The Injustice System
As recent as this month, the United States witnessed the
deadliest modern mass shooting. Murdering 59 people and injuring around 480
innocent lives at a concert is certainly traumatizing. This action is addressed
as criminal behavior, the act is prohibited by law and punished by the state.
It causes serious psychological stress or mental damage to the
victim. The main issue about criminology, the scientific study of crimes and
criminals, is why does it happen? Many factors around the criminal are reasons
why the violence is triggered. Why do criminals cause the violence that they
do? What is the benefit of their results? And why are their actions excusable
based on their race? Is it because the criminal justice system allows the
convict to act in any way they desire? Are more gun laws going to solve this
issue? Lastly, aside from their reasons, is it because the way we think is
based on human nature? Criminal behavior could be caused by many factors,
making it difficult for the way the U.S. criminal justice system handles
convicts.
There
are a few theories as to why criminals are affected a certain way to drive them
into causing a lot of ferocity. This conflict isn’t going on only in the United
States but this aggression comes from people that live normal lives, which can
be labeled as terrorists or unknown to becoming a criminal. Examples of theories
that can affect a criminal is their psychological, biological, and sociological
state. In addition, to those motives is how the setup of the criminal justice
system could perhaps grant felons the chance to cause the violence they do,
further research is required.
To
clarify any of the causes for why felons behave in this violent manner,
research will be made from various newspaper articles, scholarly articles and
peer-reviewed journals from the databases provided, and an interview with an
expert. Many sides of the research will be based on forensic science along with
other fields to determine the cause of the hostility. Additional research for
examples of articles must be prepared after narrowing the thesis and questions
that were previously discussed.
The
research that will be provided will mention many scientific viewpoints
including forensic science and psychology. Moreover, potential solutions will
be mentioned, such as an increase in gun laws. The paper will conclude with
possible ways they can lessen their violent behavior.

Research Proposal Reflection
While thinking of a topic to discuss in my research
proposal, I found many articles that mentioned different topics. Then the idea
of mass shootings and the extreme violence that is currently going on grabbed
my attention. After searching about criminology, there were so many questions
that arose from searching about the Las Vegas shooting that occurred recently.
All the questions made it more difficult as to what my thesis should be. I must
do more research on what articles I should include for my research paper. It is
a bit hard formatting this research paper because I have never written one,
neither did I ever write a research proposal before.
I learned about how to write a research proposal based on
the sample research proposal provided. The purpose of it is to discuss what
will be in the research paper. It reminds me of an abstract but a bit longer.
Since my topic is very broad, I am in the process of looking for relevant
sources. That is why I did not include such reliable sources in my research
proposal but I’ve written my proposal according to the sources I provided as a
start for the outline of the paper.
